+Slowly but steadily I became a fan of Mr Terry Pratchett. One thing is to create a fantasy world, not a big deal. But writing a series of books that are consistent and enjoyable that is a top class writer thing.
+Still not talking about the book: I managed to read under the best possible circumstances: perfect timing - beginning of the festive season, perfect weather - real winter in England (bloody boat frozen in the canal).
 +
+Now about the book. One of the bests so far, I'm not even halfway through but cannot imagine that doing this better is possible. So,
 +READ IT
+But there is a subtle, or rather fundamental issue here. When reading this book you may not think about it as it is fun to read, and the overall moral message is that it would be quite nice if people were nice to each other. So the worldview is indeed quite close to the teachings of traditional religion, however some of the implicit ideas are radically different. For instance, belief creates existence - this is potentially more dangerous from a religious point of view than the whole Da Vinci Code business enterprise. I wonder whether some other readers noticed this. I'm not saying that Mr Pratchett launched an implicit attack on religions, I'm just claiming that his approach is radically different, while his view is morally sound and I would be happy to live in a world where his values are respected. (maybe we live in a world like that ;)
 +
+One more bit, clearly the most funny character is Death (you see what happened to the original myth) and I bet he saw the movie Seventh Seal by Ingmar Bergmann.
